Skoura Famous for its many kasbahs in the middle of palm trees, including that of Amerhidil which appears on the old 50 Dirham, Skoura is the first crossing point on the Dades road which leads to Kelaat M’Gouna, the Dades gorges, Boumalne and the Toudra valley. It is, in fact, a place characteristic of the architecture of the oases.
The palm grove has many douars (villages), whose inhabitants live mainly from agriculture: olives, almonds, fodder crops such as alfalfa, barley, and other fruit trees (apple, apricot, fig, pomegranate …). Irrigation draws from the Skoura river, and still mainly uses the traditional Khettara system in response to drought in the years 1980. Some artisans perpetuate ancestral traditions such as potters and basket makers.
Suffering from drought for many years like all of Morocco and in particular the South, Skoura benefits from new income with tourism. Several lodges and hotels have opened in recent years, run by foreigners or locals. The characteristic kasbahs in the area were also transformed into luxury hotels at the end of the 20th century, although this questioned the notion of heritage.
Finally, in popular culture, Skoura has been the scene of various Moroccan and foreign films.

The Amridil Kasbah is part of the Skoura palm grove. According to oral tradition, this name comes from an Amazigh term «Amrdoul» or desert. A name linked to an incident that dates back to the beginning of the construction of the Kasbah. During its construction, the Kasbah, which was still not covered, housed a passing traveler. The next day, the Amazigh-speaking visitor pointed out to his hosts that their casbah is not anything specific to a dwelling and that it is rather similar to «Amrdoul» or a desert. Since then, this name has transformed it into «Amridil».
Historically, the Kasbah of Amridil was built by SI MOHAMED NACIRI EL HASKOURI who is none other than one of the descendants of Sidi Ahmed Bennacer, the famous founder of the zaouia Ennaciria in Tamgroute. Originally, Amridil was a small Zaouia or brotherhood. Its mission was purely religious. It taught the principles of Islam and taught the Koran. An integrated dimension mainly in the architecture of the casbah. Because the latter includes a section reserved for students as well as a room for prayer. On the roof, Amridil still keeps an old sundial whose main role was to determine the prayer times from sunrise to sunset. At a strategic level, Amridil is located on the road to the thousand kasbahs. It was a place of passage and an essential stopover for trans-Saharan caravans. However, it is still threatened by the floods of Oued Elhejjaj.
Today, the Amridil kasbah plays an entire tourist role. All visitors have access to the cultural and historical richness of this heritage. A richness which also attracts numerous world cinematographic productions and TV shows. As for the neighboring ksar where a local population of different ethnicities lived, it is nothing but rubble.
After a fantastic day trip to SKOURA, You will take the road back to Ouarzazate, drop off in your accommodation, end of service.
